Blocking the balance water pipe is a relatively easy problem to solve, but it is also the most common problem. For maintenance personnel, when encountering a balance device malfunction, they will first check whether the balance water pipe is unobstructed.

2. Unqualified shape tolerance of parts

Due to the high requirements for machining accuracy of the balance plate and balance ring, there are usually no problems, but the discharge part assembled together with the balance ring usually exhibits unqualified phenomena. There are many multistage centrifugal pumps that lock up upon opening. Upon inspection, the balance water pipe is unobstructed, and there are no problems with the balance plate or balance ring. In the end, it was found that the position of the balance ring in the exhalation section is not vertical, which can lead to uneven clearance between the balance ring and balance plate, leading to the failure of the balance device. If the problem is found to be due to the ejected section, it is best to replace it.

3. Pressure leakage from the balance ring

Due to the connection between the balance ring and the discharge section through screws, if the tightening is uneven or not tight, pressure will leak from this point, and due to pressure leakage, the balance force will be too small, leading to wear of the balance plate. At this point, it is necessary to check whether the pressure leaks from this point, and whether there are traces of high-pressure water flushing at the joint between the balance ring and the water discharge section. If so, please exclude it or add an O-ring to strengthen the seal; Additionally, several fixing screws must be tightened evenly.

4. Excessive clearance caused by wear of balance sleeve and shaft sleeve

From previous theories, the gap b1 would be more conducive to pushing the balance plate, but leakage would increase and efficiency would decrease. However, if b1 is greater than 0.6 in actual multistage centrifugal pump operation, the effect of the balance plate will be poor, so please ensure that b1 is between 0.3 and 0.5.

5. It is used in frequently opened situations

Due to the frictional characteristics of the balancing disc device of multistage centrifugal pumps when opened, this structure is not suitable for frequent opening situations. Only consider changing the balance mode, replacing other types of pumps, or changing the operating conditions of the system.
